The building was previously home to the “Accademia dei Risoluti”, which gave birth to the theatre named “Alfieri”. On the main gate there is an engraving of the “Cavallo Sfrenato” ( the galloping horse) symbol of the “Accademia dei Risoluti” whose motto was “valoroso destrier passa e non cura”, (brave horse passing without fear). The building is found in Via Pietrapiana at the point where the road meets Piazza Ciompi. In this very noble square, where the Ghiberti family lived, and situated opposite Palazzo Ciompi there is “Loggia del Pesce”, designed by Vasari simple and straight in design and composed of 18 thin Doric columns with a variety of small round terracotta fish.
