In the province of Brindisi we can find ancient history traces, traces of great beauty and historical value. Enough to think that the recovered more ancient testimonies in the territory of the province go back to the paleolitico (conserved in the Archaeological Museum Provincial Francisco Ribezzo). Greater part of the reports historical belongs to the age of the bronze, and recovered little far from the city of Brindisi. Moreover we can see rests of walls megalitiche of the Messapi are found in via Camassa and Capozziello court and a private room of via Montenegro. Very many they are the testimonies of roman age (from the III sec. to C. to IV d. the C.), conserved in the archaeological areas of Saint Peter of the Schiavoni and near Mesagne Door, where they are the rests of the bathtubs for the settling of coming from waters from the sink of Vito. Of great beauty they are also the numerous churches, between which they detach the cathedral (constructed in 1132), the church of Saint Benedict and that one of Saint Giovanni to the Sepolcro.
