Procida, the smallest of the Neapolitan islands (a surface of about 4 square kilometres with over 11 thousand inhabitants!), is separated from terraferma (dry land) by a narrow channel just 3 kilometres wide from which it takes its name.
The island, a perfect mix of landscape beauty, unusual architecture, art, history, traditions and a magical atmosphere, is about 3 miles away from Ischia, 7 from Pozzuoli with its Flegrean coast and 10 from Naples to which it is connected daily by ferries and hydrofoils.
Departing from Naples You can choose to go by ferry or hydrofoil from the commercial port of Molo Beverello or from Mergellina, a splendid tourist port reserved exclusively for hydrofoils.
Departing from Pozzuoli On the other hand, in Pozzuoli, hydrofoils, foot-passenger ferries and ferries assure a constant connection to the island from the whole of the Flegrean area.
In all three cases, the traveller is offered a marvellous panorama of the whole gulf of Naples dominated by the massive structure of the Vesuvius and delimited on one side by the Sorrento peninsula and the island of Capri and on the other side by the Flegrean coast.
Hydrofoils and ferries constantly connect Procida up until late in the evening with the two principal harbors of Ischia: Ischia Porto and Casamicciola.
Therefore, it is an island which is well connected with the other Flegrean and Neapolitan wonders, but it is obstinate in wanting to preserve its own uniqueness that makes it the privileged destination for tourists (but not mass tourism) who are in the search of magical places and lots of relaxation.
