Carbonia-Iglesias is a new province of the Sardinia Region and has been instituted in the 12 July 2001. Carbonia Iglesias comprises the territory of the historical regions of the Sulcis and the Iglesiente, today included in the Province of Cagliari. Carbonia Iglesias has had full operativity with expiration from the elections of May 2005.

CARBONIA
Carbonia are the main center of the Sulcis and were constructed in the arc of two years, when in 1938 it came proclamata the autarchy and the extractive activity of its coalmines had to be increased. From the point of view of monuments we can list in Rome Public square: Of the lictor Tower (high 27,5 m and today Civic Tower), the Town hall, the Church, the Recreational club, the Cinema-Theatre and the two great Fontanas.
From the point of view of the territory of Carbonia it introduces various, sour and barren and kind and freschi landscapes much that orignine to beautifulst shadings of colors gives. The main bathing localities are the Island of S. Peter and of S. Antioco, the zone of Port Straw, the beach of Funtanamar, the beach of Port Pine, the Islands of the Vacca and the Taurus.
The handicraft is one of the main resources of Carbonia: the working of the wood, the ceramics, the glass, the gold and silver and the not precious metals and the skins is the more important.

IGLESIAS
Iglesias came founded in Middle Ages (1257) as mining center came occupied subsequently from the Aragoneses and is today famous for the handicraft working of silver.

The territory of Iglesias has a great variety of landscapes and has conserved a remarkable boschivo and botanical patrimony. The cultivated areas are little, ritagliate to hard work between the outcrops of granito, or compressed between the alluvial depressions and the southern coasts.

The coast is varied and introduces points between most evocative of the Sardinia. In the part north of Iglesias the Green Coast is between most famous: long spiagge and coastal deserts, encircle to you from the junipers and the Mediterranean spot.
More to South, after Head Sheep we remember the zone of Buggeru and Nebida, raggiungibile through one panoramic coastal road. Wonderful the island of Saint Peter, for its sea and the infinite ones calette, all to discover. In the part to south all the spiagge are wonderful; between and more famous we remember Teulada and Pula.
