Portofino is a small Italian fishing and touristic village situated in the Liguria region, in the province of Genoa. The port of Portofino is considered, for many people, the most beautiful in the Mediterranean sea.
Portofino was founded by the Romans (in the time of the Roma Empire) and named Portus Delphini, or Port of the Dolphin, because of the large number of dolphins that inhabited the Tigullian Gulf.
