HISTORY OF LECCE

THE CITY OF LECCE
Lecce is a city in Puglia region and has a famous historical-artistic patrimony in the world for its baroque style. Lecce is moreover famous for the working of the cartapesta.
The technique for the realization is almost remained the same one with passing of the years. The heart of Lecce is sure Public square S. Oronzo (Oronzo is the protecting Saint of Lecce).
In the center of the Public square S. Oronzo we can admire a roman amphitheater that was brought back to light nle 1938. An other important monument in the public square S. Oronzo is the "Seat", erected like knows it audiences in 1592; over the portali of such building crews, trophies and coats of arms of the city and Filippo III of Spain are represented.
