It is the centre of the Grecìa Salentina, and was colonized by ' balcaniche' populations of greek language,which still today keep the (grico) speaking, the popular traditions as the rural characteristics. We must notice in the country the rural constructions called 'furnieddhi', and the fencings in dry walls provided with 'caditoie', made with archaic building techniques.. Another testimony of this complex are the ' pozzelle', a providing system of rain waters for domestical use through tanks and wells connected between them.
