Seclì is a little municipality in province of Lecce, in the Apulia region; situated in the area of the magnificient Salento is a very beautiful touristic town.
The historical sources are vague about the origins of Seclì, that surely are very ancient. Under the Norman domination it was part of the Contea of Lecce, and in 1192 King Tancredi granted this land to Filippo de Ranna. It was ruled during the centuries by the Brienne, the Enghien, the Orsini del Balzo, the D'Amato and the Sanseverino until 1806, when the feudal institution was abolished.
Until 1947 it was part of Aradeo and it later became an autonomous municipality. The town is surrounded by fertile lands and it has a farm-based economy.
