Sogliano Cavour is a little municipality in province of Lecce, Apulia region, situated in the wonderful area of Salento in the southern Italy.
The town is in the middle of Salento and is bounded by Galatina on the North, by Soleto on the East, by Corigliano d'Otranto on the South, by Cutrofiano on the West. Sogliano Cavour has an essentially agricultural economy based on wine producing, tobacco and vegetable manufacture.
According to popular tradition Sogliano stood in the place where Janus's temple laid; it probably seemed to be born in the first century B.C. from a rib of Soleto of which it was the barn. Scholars maintain that the village was evangelized by Saint Peter when he went to Galatina and to sourroundings. According to the few documents still existing, it was for a long time dukedom of the Ferrari from Parabita.
