Termini Imerese is a town situated in the south of Italy, in the province of Palermo on the northern Thyrrenian coast of Sicily.
The town (Himera, for the Carthaginian civilization) was populated since the prehistorical period; some archeologial escavations founder an archeological reperts dated 409 BCE when its more ancient neighbor.
Then the city was completely destroyed by the Carthaginian army under Hannibal and those who survived the devastation promptly recovered to the site then called Himera.
Thermae due to the hot water springs which is today known as Termini; and the ancients considered Thermae as a successor to Himera.
