Hotel B&B Amalfi - Salerno

Amalfi - Salerno

Amalfi is an extremely picturesque town situated at the entrance of a deep ravine into the Gulf of Salerno. It is characterized by enchanting panoramic views; incredible cliffs dropping sheer to the sea; a mild climate; little delightful shores; whitewashed houses huddled together, clinging to rocky escarpments; a beautiful cave (Grotta dello Smeraldo) full of stalagmites and stalactites.

In every season Amalfi is frequented by tourists not only for its natural beauties but also for its glorious history and its rich artistic heritage. Amalfi was a flourishing maritime Republic and it was responsible for issuing the famous Tavole Amalfitane, long recognized as the first maritime code. We can find them into the Civic Museum of Amalfi. An eloquent witness to the splendid period of the ancient maritime Republics is the Cathedral of Sant'Andrea of Amalfi (Dome of Amalfi). It was built in a Norman style in 9th century. The Basilica has an exuberant mosaic-decorated facade on the top of a long flight of stairs (62 steps) and inside there is a wonderful cloister: the Chiostro del Paradiso, which denote a strong Arab influence. Another interesting monument is the: Arsenal of the Republic of Amalfi.

During the summer there are several lyric and theatrical performances and the connection with the beautiful isles is operating. Besides every four years there is in June the suggestive boat race of the ancient Republics (Amalfi, Pisa, Genova, Venezia).

You can find your Accommodation in Amalfi in a simple way becouse there are many bed and breakfast, hotels and Villas for rent in this area.
