B&B La Pieve di Sant'Andrea Lucca

Over the sweet hills with the ulive trees which dominates the panorama of the city of Lucca rises an old countryside parish church builded in the XII th century along the way of historical street of Francigena, which was one of the most important routes of european connections in mediaval age of pilgrimage of the worshippers. In the historical documents it came out that the church has been builded next to the ruins of a minaret in stone, originally it served as signalling and watchtower. Afterwards the watchtower has became the outbuilding of a new holy building dedicated to Sant’Andrea and after a slight reshuffling it became the church belltower. Later in the following centuries another a third outbuilding was added to the belltower and to the romantic countryside parish church. Also this in stone became a convent for the monks and used as the questrooms for the worshippers of via Francigene. In 1897 the old countryside parish church of Sant’Andrea became non-denominational and the whole holy decorations which it was deprived were moved to the church of Maggiano which was builded around at the end of XIX th and the beginning of XX th century at the skirts of the hill. After a century of partial abandonment, from the year of 1997 on, the compound of Sant’Andrea countryside parish belongs to the family of Michelucci which after a rigorous and wise talented renovation work successed on recalling the light of ancient endless beauty of the place rich of unique and evocate appeal. The Bed & Breakfast La Pieve di Sant’Andrea accomodates the guests in spacious and elegant renovated and furnished rooms keeping intact the charm of the centuries. Here the style of the old and the comfort of the modern gets perfectly with the warm welcoming of a family in confort and the standarts of a first class hotel. At the moment we have three double or triple rooms available. All furnished with precious old furnitures. The breakfast is served in a spacious sojourn and in the summer times in the veranda overlooking the panaroma of Lucca. The bathroom in marble with the shower is next to the rooms. If requested by guests the landlady offers courses of tuscany gastronomy. For the lovers of outside living there is possibilty of outside facilities surrounded by the hills of Lucca. Our ulivate composed of about two hundred secular trees. In this oasis area lives also some small domestic animals.
