Capraia is the third largest island in the Tuscan Archipelago and has a 19 square km surface area. It is the only island of volcanic origin. It is mountain ous with a 300-400 m ridge that reveals to contrasting slopes: one is steep and full of caves and ravines, the other slopes down more gently, forming small valleys where little streams, or 'vadi' flow.
At a height of 321m in the centre of the ridge, there is a volcanic lake called Lo Stagnone.
The inhabited part of the island is the one by the bay of the port and the hedland above. The island's main attraction consists mainly in its rare natural beauty. The surrounding waters are full of the sea flora and fish.
Really beautiful all the beaches of Capraia; you can find sand beach or stone beach in every point of the Capraia coastline.
